Night Sky stayed there, nestled in his embrace, safe and content and warm.
"Mm." She hummed in agreement. "I feel like... you get me. It's so easy to be myself with you." She chuckled. "And you're hilarious. I haven't laughed this much in forever."
She sighed happily, not even realizing tears had formed in the dips of her eyes until they were already falling.
"Look what you did..." She was laughing though, even as she wiped the tears from her eyes. "People call me beautiful all the time," regarding her appearance, but she knew that's not what he meant, "but I believe it when you say it."
Night Sky tried and failed to choke back a sob, the swelling of heat in her chest too much to bear. She was overwhelmed, at a loss for words.
No one had ever unraveled her so easily. She whined and shoved herself into him again, face buried in the connection of his neck and shoulder. "You feel like home."
She went willingly; happily nestled into his embrace, head turning just enough that her voice wouldn't be muffled. She sniffed.
"I'm glad. I'm so glad I found you." Gods it would kill her if he left. A terrible thought to consider, especially since he has only just arrived, but it felt like she had known him her entire life. Time rarely made sense for Night Sky — and it especially didn't make sense around him, in the best way possible.
She chuckled weakly "It's been such an amazing day, of course I had to start crying."
"I'm done! I'm good..." After a few more sobs and a lot more deep breaths.
She turned her head to look up at him, red-rimmed eyes and all; enamored and awestruck by the way the firelight flickered across his features. Bright as the sun, Finnick Odair, at least in her eyes.
He looks down at her, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. Then he goes back to making her s'more as she collects herself, feeding it to her once she's ready.
The two go on like this, just enjoying each other's company by the fire, stuffing themselves with s'mores and roast fish, and eventually cuddling up with the dogs to sleep. It's the happiest Finnick has been in a long time.

"I trust you too, sweetheart. You're... You're so refreshing." He laughs softly. "So different from anyone else I know. So much like me."

"Sky, I dunno how to tell you this, but no one thinks I'm hilarious. Which means I'll have to keep you."
He kisses the curls around her antlers.
"I'm glad you can be yourself. You're such a beautiful person."

"Good. You better. You're..."
It's so hard to describe.
"I don't know. For once, I don't have the words to describe you. Nothing does you justice."
Nothing but I love you.

That didn't help at all.

"Oh, love... You made me feel at home here as soon as I arrived. I can't thank you enough. I needed it. I needed to find someone like you."
Finnick has more than enough emotionally constipated men in his life. Sky is so expressive, open, and caring. He didn't know how much he needed that.

"I'll make you a s'more. That should help."
He feels around for the marshmallows and sticks one, holding it a safe distance from the flames.
