[Finnick is lying in bed when he reads this text- and sits bolt upright, alarm bells going off in his head at the words "monsters from the games". Some part of his mind knows Sunny isn't talking about those Games, but it doesn't stop the panic.]
Games? I am-- r u?
[He types it as fast as he can and then stares down at the phone waiting anxiously for a response.]
Finnick hops up from where he's lounging in Sky's bedroom. He likes the pillow fort, okay? He moves to the Sex Room and grabs what she told him to, as well as a dildo that vibrates for the strap. He then goes to his own room and grabs his rope. He bought it soon after first fucking Night Sky, at her shop. Sure, Sky can make her own, but she doesn't have a monopoly on rope! Rope is very important to Finnick, but I will spare you a long exposition about that because this is a sex thread. For many reasons, he wanted his own.
He heads down to the garden, wandering until he finds a willow tree.
Out in the garden under the shade of the massive willow tree, Night Sky was lying on her back with her head on Lehna's thigh, a hand gesticulating as she spoke. Finnick would probably just catch the tail end of the conversation.
"—kind of made me feel like shit, you know? He's surprisingly bad at talking for a counselor." She looked up, expression shifting when she saw Finnick. "Hey, sweet thing."
Night Sky was not even remotely close to an expert angler, knowing just enough about fishing to get by in the forest with the small rivers and handful of lakes around. Anything she cooked tended to be bland and basic, and she didn't really do much fishing here either. Not with the handful of lovers she had that actually knew how to cook.
All that said because they were at the docks now, fishing poles and bait and the like stacked up in their boat borrowed from a Gelfling at the docks. Night Sky had sent the dogs off into the woods to scope their campsite and entertain themselves, leaving just her and Finnick to brave the waters. She was wearing a low cut green dress, no shoes, and looked like she had been trudging through the mud long before they even reached the docks.
It's definitely helping to boost Finnick's excitement and quell his nerves about this camping trip that they've incorporated fishing as part of it. Finnick hand-made some lures for their rods, just as Mags had taught him, which was a lovely little activity to honor her. Now he's just about vibrating as he looks at the small rowboat readied for them.
He sets about loading the gear into the boat, balancing himself in a skilled way despite the rockiness of it. Once he and all the gear are in, he braces the boat against the dock with his hand and reaches his other out for Night Sky to help her into it.
She took his hand, eyeing the boat with a tiny hint of concern, then deciding that she fully trusted Finnick not to let her fall and stepped in, gripping his hand tightly.
"Why is it scarier in the boat than it is just going into the water..." She muttered, the rocking making her just a little uneasy.
Arrakis knew he promised Night Sky to come to her when he had nightmares but he didn't want to burden her with them every night. He was afraid she would get tired of him so he still snuck up to the roof sometimes. He had been going to the roof more often lately. His magic had been a bit unstable since he had been enthralled by the green knight. Even if he went to sleep in his half gryphon form he instinctively switched back into a mage when he woke up from a nightmare and he didn't want to hurt Night Sky with his magic.
He was tempted to run away from his magic for a little while with his half gryphon form but ignoring his magic was more dangerous. Instead he used his wind magic to silently leap onto the roof. The cool air helped him calm down and his eyes softly shone brighter as he looked up at the stars.
Sky must be sleeping with someone else tonight, probably Red Son or something. He prefers not to sleep alone, but he doesn't know the other castle inhabitants well enough to cuddle with them yet, and well, he can't find another random bed every night of the week. Sometimes he has to sleep in his own, alone.
Of course, he's awoken several times with nightmares of the people he loves suffering, dying painfully, or being killed... By him.
After the third nightmare, he gives up on sleeping entirely and gets up to wander the castle. He goes down to the kitchen and finds a satchel of tea Levi gave him, one he's been saving for a rainy day, and figures this qualifies as rainy. He wants the comfort, wants the reminder of Levi. He brews it carefully, according to the methods Levi taught him, and then takes the tea up to the roof for some fresh air.
He almost jumps out of his skin as his eyes catch on Arrakis' form. Not that he's scared of Arrakis, he just has PTSD and a huge startle reflex. He takes a breath to steady himself before approaching the other man, sidling up next to him.
"I know you're going to be busy tomorow." Night Sky said, sitting on Finnick's bed, a wooden box in her lap. "So I wanted to give you your gifts now. If you don't mind them being early."
"I have something for you, Tide Breaker." Night Sky said as she waltzed into Finnick's room sometime in the early evening, flopping onto his bed and dropping a small bag beside her. "You're not busy tonight, right?"
Night Sky knew that magic party room would come in handy eventually. She had dragged Finnick in to the room, imagined the small theatre she recalled from Faerie, and tugged him into the two seats situated in front of a big pull down screen.
"Okay, listen. There's these movies called romcoms — romantic comedies. They're hilarious and cute and I cry every time. We need to watch one."
Finnick would go anywhere she dragged him, so he doesn't protest. He always has fun with her.
It's a... Movie theater? He's been to them a couple of times in the Capitol, but he's not very media-literate, as most of the shit they'd show was related to the games or other propaganda bullshit. He went most of his life avoiding screens because he's didn't want to see Snow's smarmy face.
