Night Sky knew that magic party room would come in handy eventually. She had dragged Finnick in to the room, imagined the small theatre she recalled from Faerie, and tugged him into the two seats situated in front of a big pull down screen.
"Okay, listen. There's these movies called romcoms — romantic comedies. They're hilarious and cute and I cry every time. We need to watch one."
Finnick would go anywhere she dragged him, so he doesn't protest. He always has fun with her.
It's a... Movie theater? He's been to them a couple of times in the Capitol, but he's not very media-literate, as most of the shit they'd show was related to the games or other propaganda bullshit. He went most of his life avoiding screens because he's didn't want to see Snow's smarmy face.
"It is fun! Oh, there's popcorn too." She produced a bucket from the floor. "I swear, people are spoiled in some of these worlds with all the shit they have. I would have never thought of popcorn either."
As she spoke, the lights dimmed and some unseen movie reel began spinning, playing out the opening scene of 150 First Dates.
Finnick's face lights up a bit more when he sees the popcorn.
"Oh my god," he murmurs, immediately grabbing a fistful. It smells so good, and tastes even better. As the movie begins, he puts an arm around Sky, pulling her close.
He didn't watch a lot of movies or shows in Panem as most of them were propaganda in some way, or banned if they weren't. So while the movie is sillier than what he'd expect to enjoy, it's such a novelty that he's drawn in right away. The screen is so big and the sound so immersive, it's quite an experience for him. He's been to a theater maybe once or twice in the Capitol, but sharing this time with Night Sky is far better than that. The movie makes him laugh, makes him cry, absorbs him totally. It feels like he's transported to another world, one where the stakes aren't always life or death, the biggest risk being heartbreak, and yet even that is mended by the end. It's an escape.

He grins at her description of the movies.
"Okay... I'm in. Sounds fun?"
